Current Deck

    Filter by Set

Fan-made quick reference summarizing common rules and keyword mechanics - not a reproduction of Wizards of the Coast's official Comprehensive Rules. Era groupings are approximate; consult the official Comprehensive Rules for authoritative rulings.

    Getting Started

What this app does and how the tabs fit together.

    The basic idea
    • Search for cards and check off the ones you physically own.
    • Your checked-off cards make up My Collection.
    • Deck Builder only lets you use cards you've checked off - it's a deck built from what you actually have.
    • Everything saves automatically to this browser, and optionally syncs to your own Dropbox account across devices.
    The header controls
    • Tabs are grouped into your data (Search, My Collection, My Decks, Deck Builder, Wish List), MTG references (MTG Rules, Links), and app info (How To Use, System, About).
    • The status bar just below the header (visible on every tab) always shows your active profile, collection size, and sync status, with "Sync" and "Share" right there too.
    • "View" applies everywhere at once: "Merge Dupes" (on by default) collapses duplicate printings into one tile on Search, My Collection, and Deck Builder together, and "Card size" resizes the card grid on every tab, including deck cards on My Decks.
    • The System tab holds everything about where your collection/decks live - Dropbox sync, manual Export/Import, Refresh, and switching profiles (covered in "Syncing Your Data" below).

    Search

Find cards across any edition (or all of them) and mark ownership.

    Picking editions
    • Type into "Editions" to search set names (e.g. "Lord of the Rings"), then check the boxes for whichever editions you want to browse - you can select several at once.
    • "Select all matches" checks every edition currently matching your search in one click.
    • Your edition selection is remembered next time you open the app.
    Don't know the edition?
    • Use "Search any card by name (all editions)" instead - it searches every edition at once, independent of what's selected above.
    Narrowing the list
    • "Filter cards" searches by name or type within whatever's currently shown.
    • Color, type, and rarity pills combine as filters - click any combination. Colors are shown as mana symbols; Planeswalker and Battle share one pill since Battle is a small card pool.
    • The "Sort" pill cycles between default order, mana cost low-to-high, and mana cost high-to-low each time you click it.
    Checking off ownership
    • Check "I own this" on any card tile - ownership is tracked per specific printing, so the same card from two different sets is checked separately.
    • Tap a card's image to open it larger, and use the arrows to page through every printing of that card if you're not sure which edition your physical copy is from.
    Merging duplicate printings
    • If you've selected several related editions, the same card can show up once per edition it was reprinted in.
    • "Merge Dupes" (in the header's View group, on by default) collapses those into one tile - check ownership on the exact printing via the image/arrows instead. Turn it off for a direct checkbox per printing.

    Deck Builder

Build a deck from cards you actually own, with live stats.

    Your deck-in-progress
    • The deck name/stats and the "Current Deck" card list sit at the top - side by side on wider screens, stacked on narrower ones.
    • Mana curve and average CMC exclude lands, since a land's cost doesn't reflect deck aggression.
    • Color balance counts colored mana symbols across your deck; colorless cards (including lands) count separately.
    • Types shows a breakdown of card types in the deck.
    • Click the − next to a card in the "Current Deck" list to remove one copy.
    Format
    • The Format dropdown next to the deck name picks which format's rules apply: Free (no restrictions), Speed Magic (this app's own 10-card format - see the MTG Rules tab), or an official format (Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, Commander, or Brawl).
    • Choosing a real format filters the pool to only cards legal in it, and enforces its copy limit (4 for constructed formats, singleton for Commander/Brawl - basic lands are always unlimited).
    • Commander and Brawl also require picking a Commander first - the pool switches to showing only eligible legendary creatures until you choose one, then filters everything else to that Commander's color identity.
    • A status line above the deck stats tracks progress toward the format's deck size (and flags anything that's since become illegal, e.g. after switching formats mid-build).
    Saving
    • Give the deck a name, then click "Save Deck." Saving again with the same deck open updates it; "New" starts a fresh one.

    My Collection

Everything you've checked off, in one place.

    Reviewing what you own
    • Shows every card you've checked off, across every edition, with the same search/color/type/rarity/sort filters as Search.
    • Unchecking "I own this" here removes it from your collection immediately.
    • "Merge Dupes" works the same way as in Search - merged tiles show a "Remove all" button (with a confirmation) to drop every printing of that card at once.

    Wish List

Cards you want to buy, not yet in your collection.

    Tagging & buying
    • Tap the bookmark icon on a card tile in Search, or check "Wish List" next to "I own this" in a card's detail view, to add that specific printing.
    • The Wish List tab shows everything tagged, with the same search/color/type/rarity/sort filters as Search - each tile links out to buy it on TCGplayer.
    • Checking a card off as owned automatically removes it from your Wish List - the two are mutually exclusive, so wishlisting is disabled once a card is owned.

    My Decks

    Manage everything you've saved.

    Managing decks
    • Each saved deck shows a cover image - the highest-mana-cost card in it - plus its card count, format, and when it was last updated.
    • "Load" opens a deck back in the Deck Builder to keep editing it.
    • "Delete" removes it permanently - there's a confirmation before it's gone.
    • The header's "Card size" slider resizes these deck cards too.

    MTG Rules

A quick-reference glossary, not part of your collection.

    Using it
    • Browse basic rules, evergreen keywords, token types, game formats, and keyword mechanics grouped by era.
    • Use "Show All"/"Hide All" or "Filter by Set" to choose which sections show, or search for a specific term.
    • Most keyword entries include a real example card - click its thumbnail to open the same card-detail view used elsewhere in the app.

    Syncing Your Data

Keep your collection and decks available on more than one device.

    Automatic sync (Dropbox)
    • Open the System tab and click "Connect Dropbox," then log into your own Dropbox account.
    • Your data is written to a private folder Dropbox creates just for this app - it's not visible to anyone else, including other people using this same site.
    • Connect the same Dropbox account on another device (like your phone) and it'll pull your data down automatically.
    • Changes push a few seconds after you make them, and pull whenever you switch back to the tab - "Sync Now" on the status bar (or in the System tab) does both immediately, without waiting.
    Manual backup (no account needed)
    • "Export" in the System tab downloads a JSON file of your owned cards and decks.
    • "Import" on another device/browser loads that file back in, merging it with whatever's already there.
    • Works well dropped into any synced folder you already use - iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.
    Switch Profiles (shared devices)
    • If more than one person uses this app on the same device, "Switch Profiles" in the System tab keeps everyone's owned cards and decks completely separate.
    • Dropbox is one shared connection for the whole device, not per-profile - connect it once and every profile here backs up together under that one account.
    • Switching profiles reloads the page into whichever one you picked; "Create" starts a new, empty one.
    Using it on your phone
    • Open this site in Safari (iOS) and use Share → Add to Home Screen for a full-screen, app-like icon.
    • Connect Dropbox there too to keep your phone and computer in sync.

Manage where your collection and decks live - automatic sync, manual backup, refreshing card data, and switching profiles.

    Switch Profiles

Separate collections/decks for different people sharing this device - all backed up through the same Dropbox connection below.

      +

      Manual Backup

No account needed - move your data yourself.

Export downloads a JSON file of your owned cards and decks. Import loads that file back in (on this device or another), merging it with whatever's already here. Works well dropped into any synced folder you already use - iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.

      Refresh Card Data

Re-fetch the latest Scryfall data for whatever you were last viewing.

Every edition you've ever browsed stays cached here so it loads instantly next time - with no size limit, a long browsing history can eventually fill up the browser's storage quota entirely, which can make sync silently fail. "Clear Cache" frees that space; it never touches your owned cards or decks, and editions just re-download the next time you browse them.

      Reset This Device

Wipe every profile/owned card/deck stored here and start fresh.

For when this device's local data is corrupted or mixed up and starting clean is easier than fixing it by hand - doesn't touch your Dropbox account itself, only what's stored on this device. If Dropbox was connected here, reconnecting afterward pulls your data back down with nothing local left to conflict with it.

      Syncing Your Data

Keep your collection and decks available on more than one device.

      Automatic sync (Dropbox)
      • Click "Connect Dropbox" above, then log into your own Dropbox account.
      • Your data is written to a private folder Dropbox creates just for this app - it's not visible to anyone else, including other people using this same site.
      • Connect the same Dropbox account on another device (like your phone) and it'll pull your data down automatically.
      • Changes push a few seconds after you make them, and pull whenever you switch back to the tab - "Sync Now" on the status bar (or "Sync now" above) does both immediately, without waiting.
      Manual backup (no account needed)
      • "Export" above downloads a JSON file of your owned cards and decks.
      • "Import" on another device/browser loads that file back in, merging it with whatever's already there.
      • Works well dropped into any synced folder you already use - iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.
      Switch Profiles (shared devices)
      • If more than one person uses this app on the same device, "Switch Profiles" above keeps everyone's owned cards and decks completely separate.
